I'm a wuss when it comes to flying insects that sting. No, posting pictures of them does not scare me (see below), but I really hate them.
The funny thing is that I am more bothered by the thought of being stung than being stung itself. I've been stung before, and while it is not pleasant I just suck it up like I do a workplace injury.
What I hate is them buzzing around my head, in fact I hate even harmless things buzzing around my head. I have VERY sensitive peripheral vision, and I go into freakout mode when things try to sneak up on me (intentionally or not).
Big-ass Japanese Hornet:
What I do is get all 'flappy' - which I know is not what you should do - and I try to dodge them, which means that from a distance people do not see the little buggers and think I'm some idiot having a seizure.
The reason why I figure it's a lot to do with my peripheral vision, is that I will happily hunt
them down, and go after them with either a plastic cup to release them outside (or blow them apart with my gas 6mm BB Mac 10). I like being the Predator, not the Prey (duh).
Oh, I also hate these things with a
passion:
Bloody Craneflies, drunkenly bumbling about around my head while I am at the computer...
