WRT54G Replacement in the 802.11n for ddwrt Mod
« on: August 04, 2010, 04:50:51 PM »
Howdy:

I have been happy as a clam with my WRT54G router/WAP, but I think it is time to move up.  Both my laptop and my wife's can manage 802.11n.  Also, I want gigabit Ethernet for my wired connections.

I also love what ddwrt, functionally, does for me and am loathe to give it up.

What is the "WRT54G" of the 802.11n class router/WAPs?
Regards,

There's a table of dd-wrt supported devices here.  Some of them support 802.11n.
Seek out wisdom in books, rare manuscripts, and cryptic poems if you will, but seek it also in simple stones and fragile herbs and in the cries of wild birds. Listen to the song of the wind and the roar of water if you would discover magic, for it is here that the old secrets are still preserved.

Do your wives understand what you're talking about, or do they just stare at you blankly? ;)

The newest hardware revision of this Buffalo 802.11n router supports DD-WRT. The problem currently, though, is places are still selling their stock of the last revision. I read the router supported DD-WRT and purchased it only to discover the one I got was the previous hardware revision#. :( The stock firmware is pretty clunky to work with, but seems to at least be stable.
