If you don't have much driving experience, practice lots before venturing east of Manassas.  Srsly.

Chris

Even Manassas can be crazy. Keep in mind MetroDC isn't your only option, too. Warrenton or Leesburg will likely have a lot of opportunity and have the advantage of being the opposite direction of most rush hour traffic.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Yes.  Thar be jobs everywhere.  It's pretty nuts.
And my dad keeps talking about trying to get me a job at Navy Federal CU.  That would be fun too.

The good news about NoVA and the D.C. Metro is that if you learn to drive there, you can drive anywhere, save maybe the third world where all those scooters and livestock and pedicabs just go wherever/whenever.  =D

I promise not to duck.

I'm more worried about running into the guy I rode with Monday and Tuesday.
Joe was a bit of an aggressive driver.

In DC you are either aggressive and demanding your slice of the pie
or you are in the herd and will be arriving later

Being a far right lane sheep means a lady on a cell phone will merge on top of you

The far left lane will be occupied by a nimrod going 55 in a 55 zone

The Batman surfs the pods & clumps and plans exits, merges and overtaking maneuvers a mile out.
There is a often a clean path thru most of the major intersections
and an experienced DC driver know when windows open and shut.
The Northern Virginia HOV shutdown is a real pain for deliveries.

If you follow the herd into one of the choke points you will exit with the herd.
The aggressive driver runs up the side lane and knows a spot will appear to duck into.
If you are under a schedule to get to an appointment after leaving your last appointment late,
you know when to leave a congesting highway and run the surface lights to make progress.
You really need to be alert and in control to be aggressive in DC traffic.

Most nights I did not have the energy and I would accept the flow.

I'm still not used to the whole steering wheel thing so I imagine I would have trouble with all that.

That's the plan.

please warn us where and when
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

You're not supposed to grab him like you grab your boyfriend's ass.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.

So you're admitting that you were someone's gimp?
