I really like the name Hilary, and would even consider it for our son(due in a couple of weeks).

How about "Edmund"  ???    ;)

Or maybe the above for a middle name, and a first name of "Sir"  =D

Oh BTW ... one of my great great great uncles was a Doctor.  =)

The former Snohomish County auditor was named Bob Terwilliger. Which just so happens to be the same name as Sideshow Bob on 'The Simpsons'. I once pointed this out to him at a County function, and he laughed and said I was only the second person in his life who knew this.

One of the building inspectors I have had to deal with recently is named Ted Flanders. Do you have any idea how hard it was to refrain from saying "okely-dokely"  when talking to him?

<-----Actual given name. Grateful for it as fitting in is overrated. Kinda toughens up your sense of humor in grade school.

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

One of the people that was on the audit team for a satallite program I worked on at GD was named Richard Dicks.  And his name fit.

How is that a boy's name?  At least go with Pat.

See the chart at the bottom of the page. It looks like Hillary dropped off sharply in popularity after 1992.

And who could forget Hilaire Belloc?

Quote
He was powerfully built, with great stamina, and walked extensively in Britain and Europe. While courting his future wife Elodie, whom he first met in 1890, the impecunious Belloc walked a good part of the way from the midwest of the United States to her home in northern California, paying for lodging at remote farm houses and ranches by sketching the owners and reciting poetry.

His best travel writing has secured a permanent following. The Path to Rome  (1902), an account of a walking pilgrimage he made from central France across the Alps and down to Rome, has remained continuously in print.

And who could forget Hilaire Belloc?

Quote
He stood upon a little mound
Cast his lethargic eyes around,
And said beneath his breath:
'Whatever happens, we have got
The Maxim Gun, and they have not.'

We have a woman on the help roster at work whose name is Kalorie. She is a pleasant woman who seems to be unfortunately influenced by her name.

Ouch.  Never been a fan of Pat, and I'd much sooner use Hilary for a boy than Hillary for a girl :)

Tallpine got it.

It'd be difficult to, erm, avoid fulfilling the prophecy with a name like that.

I've probably mentioned this before, but there was a NASCAR driver from Wisconsin named Dick Trickle. Never did find out if the name influenced his behavior, though.
