That's "founder," Mate. "Flounder" is a mild-tasting whitefish.

Afraid not, both are correct:

floun·der 1  (floundr)
intr.v. floun·dered, floun·der·ing, floun·ders
1. To make clumsy attempts to move or regain one's balance.
2. To move or act clumsily and in confusion. See Synonyms at blunder. See Usage Note at founder1.
n.
The act of floundering.
[Probably alteration of founder.]
floun·der 2  (floundr)
n. pl. flounder or floun·ders
Any of various marine flatfishes of the families Bothidae and Pleuronectidae, which include important food fishes.
[Middle English, from Anglo-Norman floundre, of Scandinavian origin; see plat- in Indo-European roots.]

Technically it happened on the Mexico side of the lake, so the AG is technically right.   ;/

The local LEO's are advising people to avoid being victims by staying on the US side....like the Mexicans won't cross that border, either....  ;/

Am I the only guy who thinks a bass-boat mounted recoilless rifle would be great for this?

Sure, a 20mm-40mm cannon wouldbe more practical, but I loves me some HE rounds.

Too much weight forward in a bass boat.  Pontoon boat would be a better platform.

The best gun for that threat would be a phalanx.

But at 7 tons and only about 20 sec of ammo, I would opt for a few miniguns.

Some depth charges might be a good idea too.

Or why go to all that work. c&s's daddy is right. Call in a few Warthogs and take care of business.

How about something like this, http://www.maritimesales.com/PI12.htm http://www.ussubmarines.com/submarines/luxury.php3  =D

I want the used S-101 they have on US Submarines.  It was previously owned by the Sea Shepard Conservation Society (yes..  those guys) and before that the Swedish Navy.  I could see some asthetic mods and a scaled down deck gun to make it into a mini U-Boat.  It is even a Diesel Electric..

From what I've seen of the Whale Wars shows, they don't really take good care of their boats.  Might not be a good idea to buy a used one from them...

I wonder if you could get away with using red-dye diesel in a submarine....we could tell the Feds it's for our "catfish farm"....  ;)

@ Cromlech: If you've got a torp with a bit more range than the old Mk-45's I'm all for it.  >:D

If anybody's got a helicopter, we could always venture out to San Clemente Island and hijack a Mk 48. However, we'd have to improvise our own warhead......  I know how to do torpedo recoveries.... (just sayin'.......)

I say we take off dive, and nuke from orbit max torpedo range. It's the only way to be sure.

We haven't had the nuke torpedos for quite a long time. Subs got all up to date with the cruise missile thing a couple of decades ago. Heck we weren't even laoded with Subroc when I got out in '92, it was all Tomahawks for the big bangs by then.

Most boats are made of wood, fiberglass, or aluminum.  The most solid thing might be the engine block.  AP mixed with incidiary or tracer from a saw or 240 would chop pretty much any boat to bits and at ranges of several hundred yards with ease.  Incidary or tracer to help get things cooking.... >:D
Ma deuce might be overkill when you account for the weight of the weapons platform and ammunition.

My vote is for a mk19 if we could acquire one.  If the grenade goes off then great.  If not because of the soft construction, then there is a 40mm hole in the target anyway.
