The phrase ". . . separation of church and state . . . " does not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

The 1st Amendment is very specific enjoining Congress from making laws that either establish religion, or prevent its free exercise.

Various courts have invented additional restrictions - allegedly based on the 1st Amendment - that simply aren't there in the plain text.

[sarcasm]It's still disheartening to see that someone who was a bearded Marxist is more of a Constitutional scholar than a former witch.[/sarcasm]

This.
I listened to the entire exchange.  The article is interpreting her comments wrong.  She could have articulated her point better.

But, bonus points for anyone who knows where the language of Separation of Church and State is found....(hint, it's communist...)

TJ's letter to the Danbury Baptist Church, where he doesn't answer their original question (THEY wrote HIM first and TJ replied), but instead invokes the wall.

As for the OP, O'Donnell only became the Tea Party choice when the GOP picked Head RINO Castle to be their boy.

FTR, I am in MB's boat.  WHat are her principles?  Without principles, all else is worthless, as intelligence, facile verbiage, & such in the cause of statism is not helpful to the cause of liberty.

What roo_ster said, but I have heard that that language is also found in a Soviet constitution or bill of rights. Is that what you mean?

The Soviet constitution is written on single ply. ;)

Yep, concur.

Like I said, earlier she said the correct, accurate, right thing; but the wrong way.  Tells me that she's read the USC and the BoR and understands what it says and what it DOESN'T say.  If she legislates/votes in the Senate on those principals/ideals, she'll better then 95+ percent of the other oxygen wasters in the that body.

It doesn't matter if she knows who was president in 1929 or when TV was invented. She's held to a higher standard, one which includes being 100% clear in what she's saying (as opposed to Obama, whose mistakes never make the news).

The Libertarian Party has plenty of good candidates for the TEA Party to choose from....
