Movie - The Mechanic
« on: January 16, 2011, 02:57:38 PM »
Saw an advert for a movie opening soon, called "The Mechanic" apparently about an assassin. In the ad, a long gun is shown being fired with the action cycling, the ejected casing also has a bullet attached.

The trained killer simply fails to shoot a round as it ejects with the casing.

I don't know if I explained this too well, but the ejection is shown fairly slow with a tumbling round as a complete "prefired" package.

Looks pretty stoooopid.

Haven't heard about it, but more horrible, it's likely a remake of the Charles Bronson classic.

Hollyweird seems to be making alot of gun goofs lately.
That said, I do like watching Jason Lathem (Sp??) kick some ass.

Isn't "The Mechanic" an old movie starring that never-quite-made-it-big action "hero" who played the Russian boxer in the Rocky movie? I'm drawing a blank on the name ... oh, yeah: Dolph Lundgren.

This the one at 1:17-1:18? Looks OK to me.

It is a remake.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Someone within reach please spank 280plus for that spoiler!

The Charles Bronson flic is out in a $5 three film cheapie.  Even bundled with two turkeys, $5 for The Mechanic is worth it.
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

It almost looks like a blank case to me.  You can see something that looks like crimp at the nose.  If I could figure out how to move frame-by-frame, maybe I could get a better look at it.  Are blank .50 BMG rounds crimped?

Okay, I answered my own question.  The M1A1 blank round is crimped at the nose.

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I think so ......
After a show he was in, Airwolf,  was cancelled about 1987, he got involved in alcohol & drugs (IIRC) and suffered from a motor vehicle accident which I think injured his vocal cords.
The last thing I recall seeing him in was an episode of Nash Bridges maybe about fifteen years ago (when ever that show aired? ) in which he played Bridges' brother, a Vietnam vet who was supposedly MIA in 'Nam.
That was sort of a bizarre twist in a way, since  the character he played in Airwolf (Stringfellow Hawke) had a MIA brother (St. John Hawke).
I suspect he's retired by now....
