Michael Moore.. .... How can someone be so stupid and still be able to breath? ? ?
As usual, follow the money. Moore's not stupid. There's big bucks in what he does, just as there is for Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Bill Mahr, and other leftist luminaries.
I'll use a local example. In Wisconsin is a group called the "Wisconsin Anti Violence Effort", or WAVE.
Jeri Bonavia is the head of WAVE, and has been for many years. Near as I can tell she doesn't do much. A speech here or there, a demonstration (100's of shoes in front of a public building to represent "gun violence" victims)...that sort of thing. When we were pushing for CCW in WI, I saw her at the capitol, and it was pretty obvious that she didn't spend time there lobbying, as she didn't know where anything was.
Anywho, WAVE has a 501c3 arm called the WAVE Educational Fund. It's basically where the money comes from for Bonavia and a couple of others.
I got the groups tax return for 2001 several years back. It showed Bonavia getting $54,000 a year, plus every conceivable benefit you can imagine: health insurance; pension; car allowance; travel expenses; and more. The group also had over half a million in the bank account, which I'm sure wasn't going anywhere except into somebody's pockets.
In 2006 the group got a grant from the Joyce Foundation for over $600,000. I saw a couple of newspaper ads, and that was about it. In 2010 they got another $300,000+ from the Joyce Foundation.
They've got some lucrative rackets going. If I didn't have a conscience, I'd be tempted to start a liberal "action" group and make some serious easy money.
Michael Moore has made tens of millions for himself without having to be a good producer, director or actor. He's a skilled con artist, though, just like Al Gore and so many others.
