Libya Mission Creep
« on: April 19, 2011, 08:40:57 PM »
Well, I'm going out and dusting off my copy of Infanterie Greift An and re-reading.  I bet I'm the only one and we'll have to relearn those lessons the hard way (with blood and treasure).

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

We just can't keep our .gov nose out of other country's affairs can we?  I am sick to death of it.

We should send in some Green Berets to win the hearts and minds of the people.

If we drop enough bombs on them, they will see the goodness of our intentions.
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

If 'Rat Patrol' comes back, I call dibs on a jeep, a Ma Deuce, and an Australian digger hat.

When I was 23 I had ten of them and the soldiers to go with them !!!
