It also looks like you will be accepting the AZ Concealed Carry Permit come July 1st. I just sent away for the application. They have around a two week turnaround time, you don't have to apply in person, and you can carry any gun you want. :)
I missed that.  I'll have to look into getting some of the out of state permits.  Especially Utah.  I don't see myself going out of state that much, though.  Just a few trips to California.  =|

I might still head to Vegas to get my NV non-resident anyway, just because I like to support anyone who thumbs their nose at CA gun laws (but will probably wait till OCT when the "any auto" provision takes effect).
I may very well be renewing mine early about that time. It would greatly increase my carry options to have the any semi/any revolver.  I only have 4 on my permit now.  I could add the rest of mine and all of my wife's in one swoop!

Any semi starts July one 2011 afaik

The last sentence says effective July one 2011

There were 2 bills with any semi in them.  One was for July, one for October.  I'm thinking the October one was passed, but I'm not sure now.

Looks like you're thinking of AB217
Quote
Assembly Bill No. 217

{much deleted by me}

AN ACT relating to firearms; repealing provisions governing the
interstate sale of certain firearms; and providing other matters
properly relating thereto.

Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Before the enactment of the federal Firearms Owners’ Protection Act of 1986,
the Gun Control Act of 1968 generally prohibited the interstate sale of firearms but,
in certain circumstances, authorized the sale of rifles or shotguns to residents of a
state contiguous to the state in which  a licensee’s place of business was located.
These provisions were revised by the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act of 1986,
which authorizes the interstate sale of rifles and shotguns between a federally
licensed dealer in one state and a resident of a different state, as long as such a sale
complies with the applicable provisions of  the laws of both states. (18 U.S.C. §§
921 et seq.)
Existing Nevada law continues to reflect the provisions of the Gun Control Act
of 1968 and authorizes: (1) residents of this State to purchase rifles and shotguns in
other states which are contiguous to this State if such residents conform to the
applicable provisions of state and federal law that govern such a purchase; and (2)
residents of other states which are contiguous to this State to purchase rifles and
shotguns in this State if such residents also conform to the same applicable
provisions of law. (NRS 597.910) This bill repeals these provisions, which means
that the interstate sale of rifles and shotguns between a federally licensed dealer in
one state and a resident of a different state would be authorized, as provided in the
federal Firearms Owners’ Protection Act of 1986, as long as such a sale complies
with the applicable provisions of the laws of both states.
Sec. 2.   This act becomes effective on July 1, 2011.

State preemption laws keep the libs in the NE part of the state from destroying it.

Those are fairly recently.  IIRC, they were signed shortly before you moved here.

I know, in regards to firearms, the laws where much worse.

Don't ever get Dad started on the old CWL. He had one, then they switched to the new one and *poof* the old ones were defunct.
Its easier to get it now, but still ticked my Dad off.

Actually, the change to the CWL happened even earlier than the preemption laws.  I got my first license in VA in 2000 and they were already "shall issue".  Nothing has changed since.  What Jason is referring to is the law that keeps localities from setting their own firearms-related laws (no guns in city/county parks, waiting periods, etc).  That is a separate issue from CWL.

I don't know when any of it changed, except the cwl changed when I was a kid, before kerry was my dad.

Georgia's 15. I kind of expected it to be a little higher on the list.
Less gun control than all of our neighboring states except TN - woo hoo! I can CC or OC which is always good.
Deep South automatically means mediocre personal freedom? Marijuana laws are bad (that doesn't affect my freedom in the slightest though I'm sure there are some local boys who find that restrictive). We are restrictive with road use - in fact I got a ticket today for not having my seatbelt on. No lectures please. Open container law (but not in downtown Savanah), sobriety checkpoints (very true), etc.

At least ya'll in GA have open carry...not so for us in SC.

One thing is however, county law in the rural areas and small town LE agencies generally gravitate towards common sense law enforcement...unless you are speeding through the speedtrap towns. Then you're going to get it.

If I started a political party, it would be called the "Leave me the hell alone" party.

I've said more than once that I would start a *real* "Party of No".

I was surprised to find Arizona way down at 22.

Scout, my brother lives in IL too, down closer to St. Louis. But he lives in the sticks and is buddies with the local LEOs, so doesn't have many issues with his guns. Shoots with most of the cops in fact.

I believe if I were in your shoes (or in your state anyway), I'd just move. But I can do what I do from almost anywhere so a paycheck isn't really an issue for me. And my kids are adults.

Wow. No guns and you freeze your a$$ off 10 months out of the year. Ugh.

This is a good thing! I grew up in MO and I heard "don't let the government take your guns" before I heard "don't take candy from strangers" as a kid. So when I fly up for my class reunion in October, I can carry? Obviously not on the plane, but when I get there?

Don't know. I think Missouri recognizes most state's carry permits, but I would check first.

Iowa recognizes every state's carry permit now. Went from no reciprocity to 100% reciprocity.

According to the MO AG's website, yes.

Yup.  Wife and I(and attached chilluns) would be there if not for family here.  I liked the Monett area a lot, and we have "a little bit" of land(basically a few campsites) near Warsaw.  One of these days...

Avenger - thanks for looking that up for me! You're just on the ball!

Scout - well you just stick with it and I'll send you some hand warmers.

Personally I don't ever see myself returning to MO. Not that it's a bad place to live (in the summer anyway) but it's missing something I've grown fond of - saltwater!
