Browser roundup 2011 version

I know we've had similar threads in the past, but I just wanted to see what people are using these days. I've been lazy and kept on with an oooold version of firefox, but I'm considering going to Chrome (well, SRWare Iron more likely). Sadly, at work I'm stuck with an old version of IE (6 I think, but I don't really know for sure how to tell).

So what browsers are you using? un add-ons or widgets you can't live without?

First I've heard of Iron.

And the Google-tie-in is the reason I'm not running Chrome.  Well, that and Firefox does everything I need it to do.

I'm running Firefox 5 on WinXP, Win7 and Ubuntu 11 machines.

I use Firefox.  I have Chrome on my netbook, but it's just a little off from what I'd want to use full time.

I'm happily running IE9.  I have Roboform running with it.  Love my Roboform!
Oh, and the Amazon Wish List thingy.  I like that a lot too.

I use Firefox 5 about 60% and Chrome about 40% of the time.

I use Chrome about 90% of the time.  Ironically, I like the Google Toolbar autofill feature in IE7 and IE8 much better than the autofill in Chrome, that's the main reason I still use Internet Explorer at all.

Google has slowed WAY down. Try to type in a search term at the top and have it search...and it takes forfreakinever to load. Often takes a long time to go to the google page itself, too, when other sites are loading just fine and quickly.

I have noticed this too, lately.  It used to be that Chrome was the fastest browser by far.  And it is so much slower now, whereas Firefox has picked up speed.

Never use anything but Fox 5, unless I go to some web page so backward it won't even work in a Firefox IE tab. Necessary add-ons are Speed Dial, IE Tab, Old Location Bar, and PhotoBucket Uploader.

IE 9, 64-bit, was faster for video streaming, but it got my old CPU too hot-and-bothered. It's the first IE I've liked, since I found the fox.

Chrome never made any sense to me.

Opera is pretty.

Trying the portable (ie no admin privileges required) version of Iron nao. Interesting so far, not sure if it'll supplant FF at home but for work it seems better than Explorer.

FF5.0 & DolphinHD (on my droid phone).

1-2% of the time, IE for proprietary web applications built around MS software.

Using Safari and Firefox 3.6 on the Mac, IE6 and Firefox 3.6 on the (very old) laptop.

Predominately Firefox at home, sometimes Chrome. If a site claims to need IE, I will generally just run that in a virtual machine (which is where I often browse from anyway) just as extra protection against whatever. I was running 64bit Firefox for a while, but was having issues so went back to 32bit. It was a while back, so I might give it a try again.

At work we are mandated to use Firefox, but several of our sites will only work in IE, and then when you go to them, you get a security certificate error.

And now I've installed the newest version of FF on this machine to try a side by side comparo. :) I agree that Chrome/Iron seems slower than I expected.

I switched to chrome from firefox about 2 months ago because firefox was being a pig and chrome seemed amazingly fast.  I have a 25Mbps Fios connection and 5 seconds to load any site, 1-2sec to respond to a click  was the norm on FF.

Now I am used to chrome speed (everything comes up instantly) and on the off-occasion I need to use firefox (Web Developer Toolbar's live CSS editing feature is so hard to pass up), I am shocked by the slow.
On two occasions, I have been asked [by members of Parliament], "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" I am not able to rightly apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.

Firefox 5 on my laptop.
DolphinHD on my Droid 2 phone.
IE8 on my work PC.

All 3 work pretty well, but FF+Adblock is still my favorite way to browse the web.

I have just recently switched to Opera Mini on my Android. About five times faster than Dolphin HD.

I've been using Firefox 5 on this machine.  Firefox 3.something is installed on my main machine.  I'm still deciding if I should upgrade it; they took away my bottom toolbar with the new version. :(

I looked at Chrome and couldn't figure it out. It seemed just ... strange and awkward. I never really tried using it. I installed it, opened it and looked around a few times, then quickly uninstalled it.

I run Firefox 3.x.xx on Windows Xp and Win7 machines.

Firefox, whatever's current in Ubuntu (5 at this instant).

Addons: Flash, of course.  User agent switcher, which I haven't actually used in years.  Ant video downloader.

I'm not sure what you mean by "bottom toolbar," but with Firefox 5 I can toggle an Add-On Bar from a drop-down menu, by right-clicking near the top of the browser. The Add-On Bar sits at the bottom, and has icons for my extensions in it. Is that the bar you're talking about?

I've heard other people complain that Firefox 4/5 takes away their top-mounted toolbar, and there's a similar fix for that.

That's kind of how I felt about it. I thought it was supposed to put my most commonly-used windows in a speed-dial arrangement for me, but it didn't seem to work that way.

So far in a side by side comparison FF does seem faster, but that's vs the portable non admin privileges 3rd party Iron. I may try Chrome (or full on Iron at home) and see if that does anything.

Millcreek: I've been using the stock Android browser on my Evo. Tried dolphin for like 2 minutes and saw no advantage so I dumped it. What do you find Opera mini does better than the stock browser?
