Maryland State Police closed down the Baltimore-Washington Parkway for more than three hours Wednesday as they searched for a man who was carrying a shotgun and hammer and smashed the windshield of a Jeep SUV that had speed cameras mounted on it.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Well, do you expect the LEOs to drive their cruisers into the woods?

No.  Not at the moment, but thanks for asking.

He wore a long sleeve shirt when it was over 80 degrees?  My God, what's the world coming to?

By the way, my pet theory is the guy was upset because the speed cam wasn't slowing down traffic enough.  So he did something that not just slowed, but stopped traffic for hours.  Problem solved.

The obvious solution is more hammer control laws.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Nope, not me.  If I had a shotgun, I wouldn't bother using a hammer to bust out a windshield  =D

We had a guy in AZ do a drive-by of a speed camera van with a .45 handgun, a couple years ago.

He ended up killing the tech that was inside the van, although he thought it only had electronic equipment in it and was otherwise unmanned.  Can't remember if he got manslaughter or actual murder at the trial.

What's scary about that, is I was coming home from teaching an Appleseed that Sunday evening and passed that same camera within about 5 minutes of the shooting.  I'd been a hugely outspoken critic of the cameras, and had a .45 in the truck with me as I drove by.

I've often thought that a good solution to traffic cameras would be a paintball gun loaded with alternating epoxy/hardener paintballs . . . with the epoxy chosen for it's opacity when bonded to glass.  >:D

I've never seen these camera vehicles you guys are speaking of but I get the picture.

I've often daydreamed about doing something similar.

IF only we had something in the COTUS that spoke about excessive fees and fines, to bad we don't have those kind of protections against radlib gov't excess, like we do for porn.

the article mentions a $40 fine,   it doesn't say how much the court fees are on top of that.
