Saw the movie "Kick-ass"

Mildly disturbing in places(1).  Don't make the mistake that it is an "R" rated film appropriate for young'uns because you think it might be violence a just little worse than Dark Knight or some such foolishness.

The movie definitely gets points for showing a super-hero noob getting completely beat to heck, stabbed, and ending up in the hospital for months.

Nick Cage as Big Daddy and the girl as Hit Girl stole the show.

There were a few physics-bending bits that stood out in a gadget & training based (batman-ish) superhero film that strove for some, uh, "realism."

Also, nice foray into the nerdalicious world of comic book readers.

(1) 11YO girl committing ultra-violence and using inappropriate language can do that in cinema

Yup, surprisingly good movie.  I have a soon-to-be 8yo girl, so some of Hit Girl's actions and words were a bit painful to experience, but she and Big Daddy did steal the show.

It was significantly more gory than I expected, more than I thought it needed to be, but it was a fun flick.

I'm not sure I'd run out and rent it, but if you've got Netflix and you're looking for something to watch it's there.
