Yep, King Justin Bieber bit the big one last night.  In a decently gruesome and gratifying fashion, no less.
It looks like Tyrion Lannister is going under the bus for the deed, though.  His sister wrongly fingered him for offing his nephew.  No love lost there.
It will be interesting to see if he can prove it wasn't him.  Even if he does, given how much he is despised by the rest of his family, he may be toast anyway.  Too bad if so, as I really like that character.

Assuming they follow the books in the way they generally have. Tyrions storyline gets....interesting. With the Queen, no less.

I normally have no interest at all in this genre, never having enjoyed medieval-themed fantasy.  Just watched the first episode on a recommendation and got hooked.  I have deliberately avoided the books so as to not spoil the series, and because I really have no interest in reading them.
Assuming the series follows the books, (I have been told they follow pretty well) I will look forward to the interesting twists coming up for Tyrion.

. . . I swear RJ was getting payed by the word towards the end...
Towards the end? I thought it became pretty obvious around the 4th or 5th book in the series.

Book 4 was where that series started getting really good in my eyes. Full disclosure, WoT is my favorite series of all time; but book 4 is where Rand really starts coming in to his own. That, plus its in The Waste where Mat gets his gifts. Well, the ones not tied to being Ta'veren or from the Shadar Logath dagger. I remember the morning that I read RJ died. LawDog was kind enough to break the news on his site. I just remember feeling a physical jolt and feeling like an ass because my first thought was "I've been reading this story for 13 years and now I won't know how it ends."  I had always hoped for spin offs like the Forgotten Realms or Dragon Lance books. The world he created could be a treasure chest. Between the adventures of Mat and Tuon in Seanchan that RJ was planning on writing, to stories from The Age of Legends, tales from the Waste. Stories about Individual Ashamen and Aes Sedai, or even among the Sea Folk. He laid a framework for that world that could keep writers going for years.

Yep it stars Ricardo Montalban and his buddies in a Chrysler Cordoba looking for a virgin in Las Vegas.  The only one they find, after many travails, turns out to be a member of a militant marxist tranny cell and kills them all, all save one.

dang it. don't do that.

HBO DVDs are 'spensive and I don't think the show is THAT great.

But then you go make me curious about what happens next. :P

The DVD sets cost about what 2 months of HBO service costs.  Cheaper to buy the DVD set than to subscribe to HBO for a year by far.

shush, I haven't started watching season 4 yet.  I'm trying to get caught up in the books (lagging about half a season book-wise).

HBO DVDs are a good $10 more than any other channel, cable or network.

I don't pay for TV service, period. If it doesn't air on a channel that airs over free broadcast I don't watch it. Even shows that do air, I tend to watch the shows on DVD anyway, unless I am absolutely nuts about the show (which is Grimm).

GOT is alright. I read about halfway into the third book before I got burned out on it and I've got the first two seasons. I guess I'll pick up the next one at some point.
However, I don't own TruBlood and that one, I actually really liked. GOT is the first HBO show I actually broke down and bought, and I was somewhat disappointed in the show. If Carnival had continued, I would have bought that.

This is gonna sound odd, coming from me. But I only watched the first episode of GOT, and was turned off by the T&A. Felt like I was watching a porno that edited out the hardcore closeups

I don't mind a lil sex or nudity in a movie or show, so long as it fits with the plot. But seriously, they went overboard

While there is some T&A in GoT episodes, many have little or none at all.  You might give it another try, it might be tolerable for you farther in.

bah! True Blood is like watching soft porn half the time. GoT is mild for HBO.
