I just downloaded this off of amazon.  It's ok.   It's sounds like someone is playing a guitar around a campfire though.

My three favorite Cash songs are "God's gonna cut you down", "The Man comes around" and "Folsom Prison Blues".  All three of those songs have far more dynamic range in both the vocals and the instruments than "Tennessee stud".  Cash's songs are just so darn powerful I love it.

Dynamic range? Is that what songs are judged on?  ???  I just thought it was a good ballad, hopefully accompanied by some quality guitar pickin'.

playing at a campfire is one of the few benefits to owning an acoustic guitar. [popcorn] a strat or LP is just out of place.

IMHO -one of the most overlooked country performers ever - VERN GOSDIN
A little history- Gosdin was part of the Bakersfield California music scene.  He worked with a lot of big names, not only in country, but folk rock, rock, bluegrass and gospel as well.  The guy was awesome.

Every time I hear The Cat's in the Cradle. Which is way too often, thank you. "Cat's in the Cradle" is like "God Bless the USA." If you only heard it once, it would be a great song. If you heard it twice, it would be OK. The third time around, you just want to punch the artist in the face.

Honestly, most of his music I've heard from my wife's Inigo Montoya album. It could be that I just don't like Mr. Patinkin's singing voice.

Not exactly in the Cash vein, but a hoarse singer with a bar-room brawl of a back-up band - the first three Felice Brothers albums. The new one is a bit of a new avenue, but the older ones are really steeped in various American music traditions.
