What the hell is he reading????
« on: August 30, 2011, 10:11:24 AM »
Saw a picture that's been circulating Facebook of Obama reading some book.

Took me to this snopes link

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/postamerican.asp

Okay, so it doesn't sound too bad.  Blithering anti america globalisim.  No surprise.  Then, at the bottom, it linked a reading list of books he bought on one of his vacations

http://www.thomaslfriedman.com/bookshelf/hot-flat-and-crowded

Much scarier then the other book.  Right hand is over here.....you'd better look and see what the left hand is doing before you get stabbed in the back.....

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

It bothers you that he reads books?

Not that he reads but that he might think 1984 is an instruction manual rather than a prescient warning.

I know, but it's his own writings, statements and actions that are worrisome, not his reading outside of The Conservative Book Club's recommendations.

So a person believes in whatever they read?

Doh! Since I just read that, I'll have to agree with it.

Ok, I admit, I actually laughed out loud at that one.

Has he read 1984 and Brave New World before?  Those were required reading when I went to high school.
