"Not every human problem deserves a law"
« on: September 11, 2011, 12:38:29 AM »
(For once, the man actually makes sense)

BILL NUMBER: SB 105
VETOED DATE: 09/07/2011

To the Members of the California State Senate:

I am returning Senate Bill 105 without my signature.

This measure would impose criminal penalties on a child under the age
of 18 and his or her parents if the child skis or snowboards without
a helmet.

While I appreciate the value of wearing a ski helmet, I am concerned
about the continuing and seemingly inexorable transfer of authority
from parents to the state. Not every human problem deserves a law.

I believe parents have the ability and responsibility to make good
choices for their children.

Sincerely,

Edmund G. Brown Jr.

Oh no, someone in California with common sense.  Maybe there is hope yet.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

"Not every human problem deserves a law."

I'm stunned by that concept.

Everything should be either illegal or mandatory.

Hopefully, we will move more progressively toward that goal.

I think this tagline should be carved in marble and mounted above the entrance to every state and Federal legislative building.

It was "Butterflies and Unicorns" Jerry Brown.   Don't get your hopes up too much.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

A better idea would be to have it tattooed mirror-reversed on the forehead of every legislator in the nation, so that they see it every morning in the mirror .

Several anti-2A bills have reached Governor Brown's desk in the past few days, so we'll soon see if he's serious about vetoing unnecessary legislation.

Read the letter again. (I missed this too the first time.)  That was written by Governor Moonbeam himself.  I am *shocked* -- but in a good way, for once.

Oddly enough, Moonbeam has made sense on rare occasions.

This is one of them.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I have reached a conclusion regarding every member of this forum.
I no longer respect any of you. I hope the following offends you as much as this thread has offended me:

"Not every human problem deserves a law"   if we could use the same logic in NY!   unfortunatly, the first kid who gets hurt will result in him being sued.  that'll teach 'im to use logic.

wasn't jerry a proponent of a flat tax when he ran for president?
