We've all heard about safety programs for guns and children - Eddie Eagle, for example - but the E.U. is going a step farther to protect their kids; regulators are asserting that young children ought not blow up balloons, and some types of party whistles are going to be classed as "unsafe" for children under 14.

They're also going to issue regulations limiting how noisy toys - including rattles and musical instruments - are allowed to be.

Oh, the danger! Oh, the humanity! They must STOP these horrors!

Finally, european children can rest safe from the predations of rampaging balloons. Next on the list: bathtubs, sporks, and anything small enough to fit into a human mouth.
