I'm a bit disgusted with the way he was treated after he was killed in battle.

Gaddafi didn't help himself by fighting to the very end... but anyone's body killed in war doesn't deserve to be dragged through the streets, smacked with shoes, or anything else denigrating.

If he's a truly bad man then bury him in an unmarked grave, or cremate the body, or something.

Parading a corpse is barbaric.

I'm failing to sympathize.

Italian partisans, AFAIK, abused Mussolini's corpse.

American troops mailed the skulls of Japanese troops to their loved ones.

I do agree and sympathize. That said, the man earned his fate many times over, and I can't fault those whose loved ones suffered at his will for manifesting their rage and contempt in a manner I wouldn't.

Hopefully Achmydinnerjacket or someone with an Ayatollah in his name.

But, I'm fairly certain that's not going to happen under this administration.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Right. Cuz we killed him.

The rebels shooting at him did nothing.

We are so far from the lead in this NATO operation, and yet this is another "ZOMG US MURDERS SOMEONE" situation

Didn't you know? Obama shot him with a .50 cal from 2000 meters. Or maybe it was a .32. Doesn't matter. Obama could make that shot with a 20 gauge.

And remind me again why in the hell we got involved?  Oh, to help Italy and France with thier illegal immigration problem and oil supply.    Stupid me.

That about sums it up.  Oil & illegals.

The irony is that Qaddafi was trying, post-Saddam, to be a nice boy, but he failed to anticipate the kind of President we now have.

I'll believe in this White House's policies when I see Iran de-fanged, Saudi Wahhabism acknowledged for what it is and neutralized, and when we stop importing people from terror-sponsoring nations into our country for the cryptic ends of our State Dept.

We have become paper tigers to our enemies  (Iran, Norks, etc.)and fickle friends to our allies (Mubarak, Gaddafi).

Probably not going to happen ever. Iran's double the size of Iraq, population-wise. They've got 20 million males fit for military service - which is about equal to the entire population of North Korea.

My phone ate my post.

To sum up:

Mmmmm, bacon!

And,
Stomp his mutilated corpse into the dirt and then broadcast it worldwide. Time-honored tradition. Biblical, even.

"Deserve" is a meaningless word most often used to justify our own excesses or to ccondemn other people's perceived excesses. It means nothing.

Aww.... and you had so much going for you with that "Bacon!" thing. :'(

I catch a whiff of the stench of moral relativism in your post.

Deliberate mutilation of corpses does no honor to the victors of battle.

A corpse feels little pain.
Perhaps he should have been tortured to near death then revived for a day or so, this way he could have been tortured and mutilated for weeks. It could have made a lot of money on pay per view.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".
