Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Dies
« on: October 22, 2011, 04:15:11 PM »
85 years old and heir to the throne.

Going to be interesting who is named the new heir since it won't be long before the King of Saudi dies himself, being 87 and in poor health.

The Allegiance Council has its work cut out for them.  Things in the Middle East just became just more muckier.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

The only saddening thing about this is that he died a natural death.

I think that applies to many of the Saudi royalty.

Any chance of armed conflict over the succession?

And that it took so long - Saudi Arabia is one of the most tyrannical states in the world.

Kind of a shame that the Bedouin tribe known as the "hosue of Saud" were the ones that just happened to be camping out on the coast when the British steamed up, and mentioned wanting to pull this "oil stuff" out of the ground...  ;)

(Yes, I know that's not the story, but it's what I tell certain people who's heads I want to explode.)
I promise not to duck.

I was wondering at what point Peter O'Toole showed up? :P

Don't worry, I'm sure Obama has a "democratic" movement lined up to take care of any succession tumult.

Just finished reading One Tough Cop by Bo Dietl....he was once a bodyguard for the Prince....interesting guy....

Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.
