More stupid teenage drama leads to tradgady
« on: January 05, 2012, 12:28:47 PM »
  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45886149/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/#.TwXbjuVZ4Yo

15 year old boy brings a quality repro glock look alike pellet gun to school, and waves it around. Officers shoot him when he refused to drop the gun and threaten them with it.
Parents are angry at cops for doing their jobs, because "he was a great kid" and are showing the press photos they took of their son's bullet holes.

I feel bad for the officers. Nothing like the unearned guilt of shooting a boy and then finding out you didn't have too.

Suicide.

Reading the comments there...wow, the usual drama. Why didn't they shoot his leg/shoulder/butt/shoot the gun out of his hand/use the Magic Unicorn-Powered Peace Ray/tackle him, blabla.

Natural selection, nothing more. If your stupid enough to point anything gun or gunnish at cops, well you deservie to be chlorinated from the gene pool.

It's the wailing and acusations by the family and public that I find odd. Not unexpected, but telling. I've noticed that on many occasions when myself and other members on this board are upset and disgusted by police actions, the general public thinks it's ok half the time. But when we agree with the police action, the public hates and reviles the officers involved.

It's yet another sign that the general poplulance has no commen sense.  =|

if the cops were equipped with Glocks, the Glock would have known it was a pellet gun and spanked him with his own belt.

Well...he WAS 15 and still in 8th grade.

Took you guys this long to notice that factoid?

Which also proves it was not "natural selection".  If certain folks can keep their panties from wadding up about this, I'd say it was devine intervention.

Well...he WAS 15 and still in 8th grade.

Why is that evidence of anything?

I finished 8th grade at 14. My birthday is in February, so I was 14 for almost half that year. I didn't repeat any years, and I started first grade on time. I had classmates who were older than I was. A 15-year old 8th grader is on track to graduate high school (maybe) at 19. I just don't see that as noteworthy.

Most places you need to be 5 years old by the end of September of the 1st semester of school, or you get to wait till the next September to start and you end up being the oldest kid in the class for the rest of your career.

I was on the younger end of scale, did not turn 18 until 3 months after graduating high school.  I actually went into the army at 17 (with the parent waiver thing) and turned 18 in basic training.  Much harassment was done that day....
