I'm not going to say the article is wrong, but I'd just like to remind people of what was said about Japan in the 1980's, Europe as a whole in the 1990's, China today, and plenty of countries who were more favorably compared to the US at one time or another. There's always been an inclination to finally count the US as out, a practice going back at least a century. We were told that the Soviet system was superior to ours, that the Nazi system was superior, and so on.
Each time, the US came roaring back while the acclaimed country de jour stumbled.
It's looking bad for us right now, but it can still be turned around.
