You know, I still can't put my finger on it, but for some reason bagpipes stir a powerful emotional response from me. To the best of my knowledge I have no Scot blood, but for some reason, I feel a connection with pipes and drums that I just can't explain. My wife knows this, and went to the point that at our wedding, she surprised me by arranging to have my brothers (my groomsmen) and I piped in. It was awesome. But it posed a funny moment before the ceremony started.... The guy DJ'ing and doing sound during the ceremony is a good friend of mine... I was standing in the room we were having the ceremony in and talking to him when all of the sudden I hear a bagpipe. And I'm thinking my bride threw a little bit of bagpipe music into our "everyone filing into the room" pre-ceremony music just to humor me. But it sounded really.... clear. And then I realized it wasn't coming from the direction of the speakers, but more off to the side. So I look to the side door, and sure enough, there's a piper, in full garb. I look at my buddy and go, "Dave, is that a piper?" He grins and nods his head... "Dave, *why* is there a piper here?" He grins even wider and doesn't say a word...
I love my wife! :D
