Is there a meat better than bacon?

So you guys aren't all that excited about pepperoni. Is there any meat you baconphiles like better than bacon?

Almost all meat is good but there is a hierarchy to the meat world.
Even in the kingdom of bacon there are different varieties, each with their own merits.
Sugar cured bacon
Salt cured bacon
Arkansas bacon
Even the lowly and oft maligned Canadian bacon has its proper place in the court of bacon.
Even ham rates a place at the table in the house of bacon.

I'd place steak, properly barbequed pork, and maybe a good country ham above bacon myself. Kinda a Ginger or Maryann thing, it's a trick question, the only answer is all of them, right now.

One of the guys at deer camp knows a butcher. The most awesome thing he's ever brought was bacon that was so lean we had to use butter to cook it.

Sometimes bacon is wrapped around a filet . . . to improve the steak.

I've never heard of anyone trying to improve bacon by wrapping a steak around it.

Well I've never heard of anyone dropping a c note for a couple of bacon dinners. (Or whatever it costs to dine at Ruth's Chris; I wouldn't know.)

The problem is there has to be a definition of "better."

Bacon is the candy of meats. It tastes awesome. It improves the taste of many other meats, when used in combination.

But it's like candy in that there is a less... substance to bacon. Compare it to a nice bite of steak that almost melts in your mouth. There's a fullness to the steak that isn't there with the bacon.

So, is bacon better than steak? Is a F-150 better than a Corvette? It all depends on the purpose. (And I'm not sure whether bacon is the F-150 or the Corvette...)

Sushi grade Halibut, less than 24 hours from the catch comes close, but it's such a different category, it doesn't really knock bacon off it's pedestal.

I'd say ANY quality steak is fuller and richer than bacon. (And it's even better when you ADD bacon...)
