At the risk of being accused of using sissy French words, Filet Mignon, done right, beats bacon handily.

Flame away.

I had bacon wrapped filet mignon a couple of days ago.

Shouldn't you be busy breaking your daughter's other arm, Chris?

No, the whining from one broken arm is enough.

ROAST BEEF!

Arby's now makes roast beef and bacon sandwiches....now I have to go get some....and the closest one is 45 minutes away.... :(

Thinly-sliced chargrilled chicken, for me.  At least, on the same level as bacon, though not a replacement.  Maybe crab leg meat.

crab meat is to seafood what bacon is to meat.

Also, next payday I am having a brenner and beer night. I have earned it.

Perhaps we should just slow roast a whole slab of bacon, carve into steak sized chunks, and be done with it?

Bacon steaks. I vote for bacon steaks.

Actually, I've done that. Grilled over hickory coals it's kind of hard to beat.
I don't have it cut up like that very often though, while certainly not a waste I like sliced bacon too much for breakfast to use up a whole slab that way on a regular basis.

Trader Joes and The Meat House sell thinly sliced beef.  It makes the best SOS I have ever had.  Sautee it up and then proceed with your favorite SOS receipe.  Enjoy it on toast or biscuits.  A couple of rashers of bacon would only gild the lily but I'm willing to take that chance.

Maybe a sandwich consisting of layers of bacon slices alternated with bacon thickness steak slices?

A really good steak.

Dinner at Prime Steakhouse in the Bellagio for the five of us was over $600 (and we didn't have any wine!)  And it was the best steak I ever had.  Beat the best bacon like a red-headed stepchild.

Also my Venison Shish-Ka-Bobs.   Practically everyone who's tried them say that they are the best tasting meat they have ever eaten.

I am not sure that I can beat one of my prime boneless ribeye steaks: salted with Lowry's, seared until charred and crusty on the outside and a warm pink center at 115 degrees.

I will say the buffalo rib steak over charcoal I did a few years ago beats the figurative pants off of any bacon I've ever eaten.  I got the meat from a local guy where I got to pick the buffalo, watch him pop it in the head, then come back in a week for the meat.  I may have to do that again.

"Burnt ends" from a good barbecued brisket comes pretty close to bacon.  I wouldn't want to have to choose a winner...

So most of you would pick bacon over steak?  ???

No, I would take a nice ribeye over bacon anyday.

That being said I had the worse bacon every on Easter for breakfast, I'm never buying Hormel Black Label again. Smelled like an old boar cooking it and it tasted as bad as it smelled.

Never heard of Brenner either, we always called it Breakfast for Dinner.

I thought brenner was some sort of sausage. In Pella Iowa one of the Dutch butcher shops makes a beef balogna with bacon on the mix, tasty stuff.
