EPA Official Puts Foot in Mouth
« on: April 26, 2012, 12:24:30 PM »
Apparently he actually didn't learn anything, since his apology included the phrase "vigorous enforcement". Unfortunately, this is par for the course for EPA. I've been to a few meetings here and there where EPA Special Agents showed up. Every time they were in tactical clothing while other LEO personnel would show up in street clothes. They would work well with gecko45.

"It was an offensive and inaccurate way to portray our efforts to address potential violations of our nation's environmental laws. I am and have always been committed to fair and vigorous enforcement of those laws."

offensive and inaccurate

Offensive, but not necessarily inaccurate  =(

it would be great to get rid of the EPA and a whole bunch of other agencies too.

The EPA needs to stop being the enforcer of political agendas.  They need to do what they are supposed to do and consider the economic impact when making a new requirement that is not approved by Congress.  I think this guy pretty accurately reflects the US EPA attitude at the top and it was offensive.  This guy needs to go.  Freedom of speech does not applie to acting on behalf of your employer.  Fire him!!

The congressional laws need to be reworked to be more explicit on what is enforced and how rather than leaving the details wide open for anti-corporate EPA goons to exploit.  I think that is the main problem.

The reason the environmental movement is so aggressive and successful in shutting down economic exploitation of our natural resources is because congress in its wisdom granted strap-hangers standing in lawsuits pertaining to environmental law.  In a rational world an entity would need to have some sort of relationship to the question at issue in court.  An example would be challenging a pipeline passing through someone's property.  A rational law code would only permit those who have an economic interest at play in the construction of the pipeline.  But in the bizarro world of environmental law a granola crunching, yogurt slurping dweeb in his redwood sided cabin deep in some national park somewhere can file suit to stop the construction of the pipeline simply because he can (courtesy of congress) in spite of the fact that he has absolutely nothing economically to do with the question at hand.

And that, kiddies, is why environmental lawsuits multiply like cockroaches.  Removing standing from environmental groups will not reverse environmental law excesses but it will permit the beginning of reversal.  Will it happen?  Not as long as we have the current species of democrats nor elitist republicans.  Anyone daring to make a suggestion will be met with howls of protest and forecasts of doom enough to make Al Gore look like a reasoned intellectual.  I think the only hope in the near term will be a supreme court decision that knocks out the first chip from the environmentalist wall.  [popcorn]

Heard on the radio today that some of the enviro bedwetters are lamenting his departure and the unfairness of it all, actually making public his environmental enforcement philosophy as expressed so long ago.

I guess there's a comment to be made about how some people still enjoy crucifixions, even if they're metaphorical today . . .
