The British Army since 1945

For OrBat junkies like me (and a fan of the British Army).  A really neat site. http://british-army-units1945on.co.uk/default.aspx

I got to work with the BAOR when I was Germany both during a REFORGER and then when they would come to Baumholder for gunnery and training.

I remember the first time I saw a Lieutenant of one of the Royal Artillery Regiments and the cap badge that read "Ubique".... took me a minute to get that "Ubique" meant that they had fought "Everywhere".   :O

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

When I was still in the Army Guard, my company spent a weekend with a company of British Infantry visiting from over the pond.  Those guys (and girls) are completely freaking nuts.  While we're making sure we're doing Battle Drill 1A correctly, they're too busy counterattacking and screaming bloody hell.  Good times.
