Senator Asks DOJ to Investigate SWAT-ting Attacks on Conservative Bloggers
A number of conservative bloggers allege they have been targeted through the use of harassment tactics such as SWAT-ting (fooling 911 operators into sending emergency teams to their homes), in retaliation for posts they have written, and now Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., has stepped into the matter. He has sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder urging him to investigate the SWAT-ting cases to see if federal laws have been violated.

So is there some reason they would not be able to track the perpetrator down?  Or at least establish where the call came from with the phone company.

The bloggers think their own IP or phone number was being spoofed. Apparantly the 911 calls came from the bloggers own phone numbers, with claims that they had just shot their wives.

These 'pranks' for a lack of a better term, could have easily gotten someone killed.

Well, in this instance, somebody did something pretty bad/dangerous.  Who did it is the question.  Speculation abounds.
