I liked him better before he went over to the dark side and endorsed Obamacare.
Or perhaps he WAS the darkside, after all .......  [popcorn]

Obamacare aside, he seemed like a decent man.

I've noticed that Andy Griffith has been much more of a celebrity here in the south than in the north. Not surprising to have a home town boy be popular, but his national popularity peaked decades ago. He's still been a big thing down here.

He had that image I guess.
It was said he had a horribly short temper and strove much of his professional life to control it.  He wasn't always the friendly, fatherly county sheriff type.

The man was way up in his 80s when he endorsed Obamacare, I'll chalk that up to senile dementia/Alzheimer's and let it pass.

Yup, definitely a southern icon. He could have been governor of his home sate anytime he wanted to run, hell, he probably could have made a decent showing running for president. I don't know if he would have made a good president but he'd have been better than what we got now.

Now maybe "Angel in my Pocket" will be released on home video.  It's one of my favorite movies, but Andy hated it (or hated having starred in it) and I think that's why it was never released.

Well, he's gone now, so he can't vote (unless he's buried in Chicago).

He was cast against type as the bad guy in the made-for-TV movie "Murder in Coweta County" back in the 80's.  Kind of an evil Colonel Sanders from what I remember.

I had never heard of this.  It was on the air while I was a sophomore in college, and I didn't watch much (any) TV that year.

He was a gay, power mad cattle baron in Rustler's Rhapsody, a spoof at least as good as Blazing Saddles.

Computer was down for a couple days.  Just found out about his passing.  Have Rustler's Rhapsody on DVD and will be watching it shortly.  RIP Andy.

No Time for Sergeants was a good movie.  If you haven't seen it, the "testing" scenes are really funny.

That's the movie with the latrine salute, right?   I wonder if this movie was the inspiration for Gomer Pyle.  Go-o-o-lly!  (about 4 syllables worth)

Say hi to Barney for me Andy! RIP Sheriff Taylor.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
