Well, I managed to find an online store that has the screws. The owner is pretty abrasive, though. He insults the visitors to his site, and almost makes you hesitant to do business with him. Check it out: http://www.assistedknife.com/index.cfm/fa/subcategories.main/parentcat/26847/subcatid/67296

Not the same, Harold.

I was actually looking into buying custom made aluminium screws the other day. Honestly not that expensive, and you can get them anodized any way you want. And then sell the extras to all the other folks micro techhas screwed (or not screwed in this case).

Would aluminum be strong enough?

I'm thinking, maybe a pop rivet would hold it together.    >:D

I already have a wrench that I purchased from the rude guy at AssistedKnives.com. The Makora (and some other Microtech knives) have domed cone-head screws. The wrenches that Burn Knives has don't have a recess to accommodate the dome on the screws. Maybe they're for internal screws.

I like the look of the three-hole screws, but I wish Microtech would just sell them. They make the best production out-the-front automatic knives, but their customer service is horrible.

No, Harold, they had too many people taking the knives apart and trying to putz with them, and then trying to have them repaired under warranty after screwing them up. Still, every other company in the world has a disclaimer in their warranty that the warranty is void if the product is tampered with. Why Microtech can't do this, I don't know.

In the end it's still costing me $20 for the tool and $15 for a set of six screws, plus $15 postage. All for a little 10 cent piece of hardware.

As anyone who's dealt with just about any gun-related company knows, customer service is almost always above and beyond the call. I've had RCBS send me I don't know how many primer feed arms after I've broken mine, and always without charge. Kimber has given me parts and service for free, long after warranties have expired. The list goes on.

Speaking of support, my PF9 came back from KT today.

Under service performed, "replaced grip and/or mag catc, replaced slide and/or barrel, polished feed ramp, replaced internal parts, test fired".  Unchecked were replaced frame and replaced or repaired safety.

Looking at it, I think they replaced everything except the serialized frame, and maybe the barrel.

And how much did Kel-Tec charge?

They do that work for free, for sure, but the requisite overnight shipping to Florida ain't cheap. I automatically add $50-60 to the price any time I consider buying another Kel-tec. Their quality control has abundant room for improvement. Their customer service is great, however.

As Marnoot said, free but for shipping.

Of course, now I need to run it through the 200 round break in again.  Woe is me.  And I will see if they test fired enough -- the intermittent light strike failure happened once every box or two of ammo.  One mag worth probably won't show it.

Looking at it, I'm thinking the grip was not replaced, but the trigger and trigger spring defiantly were.  The trigger feels stiffer.  (OK by me, in a safety-less "DAO" type pistol ("DAO" in quotes because I'm aware it's not truly double action).)
