More folks earning a living on survival stuff
« on: August 15, 2012, 11:38:22 AM »
Friend of mine who lives in Ft. Lauderdale posted this on FB this morning.

http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20120812/ARTICLE/120819897/2107/BUSINESS?p=1&tc=pg

Former boy scout who now owns a tattoo shop is into survival gear and stuff. Opened a shop selling stuff for zombie apocalypse and everyday disaster survival.

Why do we still not have an APS online survival store??? With our combined knowledge and ideas, it would be the very best thing going.

APS is a bunch of lightweights in comparison to some of the other folks out there.

The only thing we MIGHT have going for us is someone who's actually made a living as an online retailer among us.

You underestimate us. We have a wealth of collected knowledge, experiences, and research. Put together in an organized fashion, it's worth something.

Maybe we could find a "gulch" somewhere and start a little community  ;)

meow.

My longer range plan is to get to working for me. Hopefully I can get some retail space on the side and sell food preservation stuff and the like, maybe some gun stuff. Luckily I am in an area where business space is cheap and micro enterprise is just what you do there.

And come up with a case for moccasins as the ultimate survival footwear.

And come up with a case for moccasins as the ultimate survival footwear.

Easy to learn to make. (Self-sufficiency) The materials should be widely available even post-collapse.

Used by the Indians prior to European Settlement (and even afterwards.)

Quiet.

Can be fur lined for warmth.

Recent research indicates that walking/running on your toes is healthier than heel to toe and a moccasin is likely to encourage such form, especially in comparison to boots.

Anyone else got something to add?
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

This would be like herding cats.  But i still like the idea.  I could be one of the Redshirts that gets killed before the first commercial, just to illustrate that the situation is dangerous.  Or the APS version of Chumley.  Can I please be on the team?

You fools. This is not one of the multitude of spider-related threads. Geesh.

And Hutch, what on earth are you talking about? The idea was for a survival gear store, not a tv show.

But you got the herding cats part right.

youtube has a ton of survival channels, we should try that before we produce our own TV show-I can strum up an opening tune!

I'm trying to figure out ... why do we want the idiots to survive, again  ???

Totally missing the point, man. The idiots won't survive, but we can trick them into buying all this crappy "survival" gear and use the procedes to purchase the nessasry items that turn the *end of the world as we know it* into living like kings.

Right? That's the goal here? Or did I miss smething?  =D
