Fitz brings up a good point: false/erroneous tips.

The left already has done this sort of thing with SWATting righty bloggers.  (Calling 911, claiming their target has shot and killed their wife, that there are kids inside, etc.) A nice way to put someone at risk of getting shot, sure enough.

Not sure I want gooberment to get all arresty / warranty on anonymous tips or mere tips by "facebook friends."

I am amazed that anyone still places any credence, at all, in the so-called mental health technologies that are so much in vogue.

They've effectively been the enforcement arm for socialism for decades.

And they're self validating.  Don't like their product?  Well, you're not qualified to judge.  WE are the only ones qualified to assess the workability of what we do.  In fact, given that you object to our practices and are critical of our results, you probably need to come with us . . . for an evaluation . . . because, really, we don't think you're well.

It's like a religion with arrest and incarceration powers, mostly subject to no review.

Awesome.

it was the folks on his private facebook page that dimed him.

Virginia judge ordered his release now.

I guess he's not so dangerous that various politically vulnerable people aren't willing to go to bat over it to "protect society."   ;/

His posts talk about starting the "Revolution."

I go and do Appleseeds and I constantly talk about starting/re-starting the "Revolution."  There's a big difference between a Revolution and a Revolutionary War.

You made the assumption that his facebook friends, or specifically the facebook friends who reported him, were his "fellow revolutionaries". Not that I expect you to acknowledge that you've ever made a spuriously specious statement, let alone correct it.

Many on here think YOU'RE crazy, CSD.

Should that be justification for your involuntary evaluation at a mental facility?

Please, just answer the question.

No more idiotic "BUT BUT BUT HIS FRIENDS THOUGHT HE WAS NUTS AND THEY WERE REVOLUTIONARIES" talk. We all have people on our facebook lists that we are only acquainted with.

A simple YES, or NO. Should the opinions of  people you associate with online be used as justification for admittance to a mental facility and forcible, armed removal from your house?

YES or NO.

Any further statements from you other than answering that question can and should be taken as either rank hypocrisy or ducking the issue.

Here's something similar from a thread a while back. Don't expect any better results than I got, Fitz.

So the answer is YES, then, you are OK with the government forcing you into a facility based on the reports of internet associates?

Were those people close friends of yours, loved ones, or merely people you knew on the internet?

Answer the question and stop drawing parallels that are intentionally vague.

Are you, or are you not, OK with the government forcing you into a facility based on the reports of internet associates?

yes.  its my responsibility to control who those contacts are to some degree.
you see i've actually been through the process and through it dozens of times with other.  in real life its quite hard to get someone held at all  and beyond the 72 hours very difficult.  and it should be.  then again i am imnhibited by these experiences and maybe i need to use youtube more

Good. You've finally admitted that being sent to a facility based on the reports of internet associates is fine with you.

At least now you're plainly admitting your anti-freedom, pro-whatever-cops-want stances.

I'm glad he was released, I have not really read his facebook post but I know I have deleted people from my FB who probably would turn me in outta spite, & I have some relatives that make shooting student/deselby look like a neocon.

A couple yrs ago I posted about a fight I got in and won with a homeless psych stalker.
This guy had been stalking girls, threatening to slit their throats and was pretty much out of touch with reality.
He desperately needs mental incarceration before a protective dad kills him, in any suburb he would be locked up but our cities are full of truly dangerous nut jobs like him and the Aurora shooter- it doesn't appear as if our Marine fits this profile, more likely one of those annoying sovereign infowars types.

Let me get this straight ...

If the dot.gov commits him, then that confirms he is crazy.

If the the dot.gov lets him go, then obviously he is crazy because the system still "works"

interesting that you put it that way.  in his world he was grabbed by the evil minions of the .gov and was destined for the fema camps and martydom. since the system is so flawed.   but yet even with some of the mental health pros saying hes nutbar hes able to use due process within the system he says won't work and get released.

That doesn't change the fact that men showed up with guns in his front yard on account of a facebook post and detained him without charging him. That's wrong no matter how you slice it.

what method would you use to grab someone for an involuntary commitment?
bearing in mind the types of statements he made.

did the guns, in their holsters, scare you guys?  all at once give you the vapors?  you get like that over open carry too? >:D
