I bought a nice leather wallet from Wilson's when they had their holiday store open, about 10 years ago. It has been washed once, and is still great looking, hardly any wear on it. Like birdman said, sometimes you do get what you pay for, or not pay for, what ever the case may be.

Basically, if it's a real leather place, it will likely have the build quality required.
If the place will back it up with a lifetime fix or replace warrantee, it's worth it.

I owned a stingray wallet for nearly 10 years before retiring it because the nylon inner lining was starting to shred.  I currently rock an All-Ett bi-fold.  It's ok, but the bill pocket is too shallow.  You really have to work the cash into it so the bills don't stick out.  Kind of annoying, but it is a nice, flat wallet.

I've used a Saddleback wallet for 3-4 years now, with no problems. They make good stuff.

I've got a leather wallet I keep in the car that has various club/discount/library/ etc. cards.

Every year, when I get my hunting license, Gander Mountain gives me a plastic orange license wallet.  I put my DL, FOID Card, VA Non-Res LTC, Debit card and credit card in one side, my hunting license on the other.

Much easier on my back.

Most stores that have some kind of "preferred customer card"  will use you phone# as a reference point. I simply give them my phone# at Ace Hardware, Petsmart, Binny's, etc. to get my "member" discount.  Then I don't have to carry their stupid cards.  ;)
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.

Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

My black leather JC Penney wallet has held up over nearly 10 years. I don't keep much in it, though. 8 cards (Daily, emergency, seasonal deal (Discover), ATM, DL, Insurancex3). Nothing else.
No longer need my "little black book". ;/

I keep 3 credit cards, drivers license, AAA Gold card, CCW card, Medicare and BCBS card, swmbo's sizes and my meds on the flip side of a piece of paper that I sealed in plastic.  That's it.  Actually that's all one needs.  Keep the rest of any possibly needed stuff in a hidey hole in the vehicle to be used if needed.

I carry the stuff in a custom made calfskin card carry type wallet that has two compartments on either side.  Very thin.  I pick up a new one every couple of years from my leather guy, M.W. Barnes; mike@mwbarnes.com,  and give the old ones to grandkids.

The Saddleback Leather wallets look really nice but they don't make a trifold.  =(

I carry my wallet in a front packet, so thickness isn't really an issue. I don't like the width of bifolds in a front pocket.

Maybe I should try carrying two of their credit card wallets.

I'm sorry, Dave. I can't do that.

Can't believe I have to be the first to suggest this.

Sounds pricey though. I'm hoping to find something of reasonable quality for $40-$50.

real gator is expensive, ostrich is next. Shark and Stingray will be in your price range. Search on ebay, make sure to read the discription you are getting stingray or shark and not printed cowhide.

I got halfway to work and realized I forgot my wallet.  Got back home and it wasn't where I thought it was.  Open the dryer door and a couple of $1 bills and several little wads of paper fell out.  Found my wallet still wet.

Luckily I had a cheap spare gun show wallet on standby.  Have a few cards drying on my desk.
