Anybody know...

what kind of spider this is?

Serious, a friend of mine near Spokane found it in his house and wants to know what it is.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Does your friend not have Google or an IQ sufficient to research it himself?

How rude! And I thought someone in the training business would be more helpful in answering questions from people who want to learn.....
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

Looks like a dead spider to me!

I could have sworn I have seen this pic somewhere else in the last few days with all kinds of answers. Did your friend post it somewhere else?

He posted on FB on the 8th Infantry Division Veterans page.  I don't think he posted it anywhere else, unless someone else reposted it looking for an answer.

He does but the "answers" that came up are not spiders native to the area.

I live near Spokane.

This spider looks like an import.

It's not a hobo spider, a wolf spider, or a brown recluse (those being the most likely local baddies).

I await identification with interest.  I will not be sharing this with the wife.

I think, but can't be positive, that it is a cat faced spider, an orb weaver. A very beneficial spider to have around the house.

Strong legs.  Some sort of jumping spider.
