I never found them to be cheaper than dirt on anything.

Me neither...

Cerberus Capital Management is wanting to unload its Freedom Group of companies (Remington, Bushmaster Firearms, DPMS/Panther Arms, Marlin, H&R, The Parker Gun, Mountain Khakis, Advanced Armament Corp., Dakota Arms, Paraâ„¢ USA and Barnes Bullets.)

Maybe somebody will buy Marlin and start making good guns again  =|

Every single time I've stepped in Dick's I have left pissed off. Ok, one exception when I left only slightly annoyed.

I can go two minutes down the street from them and be in my preferred store anyway.

Even without this I would advise you to not waste your time.

Seldom has there been such an aptly named establishment.

Down here, WalMart and Academy are selling Windham AR's which I am told are the old Bushmaster factory.

I've only been to Dick's one time, when Wal-mart was out of the ammo I needed. Guy behind the counter wasn't even remotely friendly, the ammo was SEVERAL dollars higher than anywhere else I've purchased it, and the store was weak tea compared to Bass Pro or Cabelas.
I have no problem not going back.

This is the first time I recall national chains reacting like this though. Add that to the serious anti-gun sentiment I'm seeing all over the web and tv and I'm getting a little concerned.

You make it sound like Gander Mountain (the only place I've had a gun counter clerk laugh at me when I asked for ammo (9mm Makarov)).

As sucky as Dick's and CTD both are, please note that are SUSPENDING sales of AR's.  Not ENDING or TERMINATING sales of AR's.   I predict they'll be back on the shelves within a week.

(I also predicted Obama would lose, so what do I know...)

I am sure they will be back also, but, the point for me, is the fact they took them down to begin with. What will they do the next time a kid is bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat? Suspend sales of bats, I don't think so.

I don't think Armscor is very happy with CTD right now, they have already said they will have their guns at other distributors by Jan.

I just want to know what their employee recognition program is like. Is it "What a Dick!" or is it Dick of the Month?" Either way, I mostly avoid them, pissed I've beaten on my running shoes I got there last month or else I'd be returning them.
