Test for wet drywall / sheetrock with multimeter?
« on: July 31, 2006, 10:43:08 AM »
Any of you brainy types know the proper impedance readings for testing drywall with a plain old digital multi-meter. Dry it should read zero, or darn near. Any idea on what different moisture leves will read? I need to test some drywall and don't want to pop $100 for a dedicated "tester" that appears to be nothing but a fancied up multimeter.

Thanks!
Brad

Maybe test a sheet that you know to be dry, then test a sheet that you know to be wet?

Be sure to use a pretty high scale.  RX1000 or RX10000 at least, i'd say.  Just do some testing on a chunk known to be wet.
