I am a bad person.
« on: August 01, 2006, 03:29:25 PM »
Let's see.

I have guns.  That makes me a knuckle dragging paranoid freak that is a bad person.

I am Jewish, which, according to Mr. Gibson and a few others, make me evil and the cause of all war.

I like the woods, so I am a tree-hugger.

I have a Subaru, so I am a Generation X yuppie that is destroying the world.

I have an SUV so I am promoting terrorism, and sucking gas.

I have an old car, so I am killing the ozone with my bad emitions.

I am a recovering alcoholic, so I am a menace to society.

And now, my dogs, according to China at least, need to be beaten to death in front of me?

Wow.  What the fvck is this world coming to?

Actually that's just a cover story.  With meat exports to China down, they need to  find a domestic source.  What will all those Mickey D's serve?  How about:

-Quarter cobra with cheese
-Big Dog
-Squirrel McNugget

You're Jewish?  Well then of course you're evil, why go through this whole list?  Smiley

What's this thing about China and why pretend that the Zionist Overlords don't rule that country, too?

In one county in China there were a couple of cases of rabies so all the dogs were destroyed, except police and military dogs. Owners were given about half a dollar compensation and a report I read said that many dogs were clubbed to death in the street outside owners homes.

Is anyone truly surprised by this?  Considering how they have treated their human population over the last 50+ years, I hope not.

Me too.  Unfortunately, we're talking about China, a country with a reputation for brutalizing its own people.  That they would do this to dogs should come as no surprise to anyone.

We are urging everyone to actively boycott not a word we use lightly anything from China given the bludgeoning killing of thousands of dogs, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said.
You can kill and imprison any number of dissidents, Christians or Falun Gong.  You can force women to have abortions.  But if you go after the dogs, we'll boycott you!

Boycott anything from China.  They might as well try boycotting air.  And plus one on the observation that killing millions of people is par for the course, killing a couple of animals merits death.

It is PETA's job to go on about animals. I'd be a little surprised if Amnesty made a public statement about this canine slaughter.

1) I thought PETA wanted to rid the world of domesticated animals?
2) I thought they were helping the cause by euthanizing dogs on their own.

I like dogs more than people too. Why can't the Chinese bludgeon Ingrid Newkirk??

Don't you think they look just a little silly, calling for a boycott of China in regard to this incident?  If you're going to boycott China or Chinese goods, shouldn't you have started before now, and for far more serious reasons than the beating deaths of dogs?  I guess when al-Qaeda uses animals for suicide bombings, they'll condemn them too, but not until then.

Wait a minute, PETA always looks silly.

Of course PETA always look silly.

They have their sacred cow, or dog in this case, and that is what they pipe up and irritate us about. They'll call for a boycott based only on their issue, and I expect that their problems with China don't only stem from one cull of domestic dogs.

PETA isn't a universal political organisation, I don't expect to ever hear Ingrid, when speaking as PETA head honcho, speak about human rights. Just like I'd be a little bemused to hear from Amnesty on this issue. So when PETA pops up on this one I don't take their previous silence as evidence that they approve of forced abortions, just as evidence that they only campaign on animal issues. That doesn't mean that I think that they as individuals do care about human issues though.

Hasn't somebody used suicide donkeys? Or is that my imagination coupled with some episode of Family Guy I vaguely remember?

Ok, well I just like it when organisations stick to their briefs.

According to something I just read on wikipedia (pinch of salt perhaps) a donkey was exploded near Bethlehem three years ago. Ingrid Newkirk apparently wrote a letter to Arafat asking him to leave animals out of it. That shows at least that she, unlike several other prominent persons, knew to go straight to Arafat on these issues and not pretend he wouldn't know anything about it.
