I found the transcript and the quote:

"KYLE KING: I work at the Burger King at 128 Tremont Street. I've been employed there nine years, started out at $8 an hour; and now, after nine years, only making 8.15 an hour. So it's just not cutting it at all."

Nine years in an entry level job?  That's difficult for me to relate to.  It reminds me of the slam against Army recruiting ads,  "Hey, honey, that's all you can be:  in the Army!"  Perhaps Mr. Kyle should look at the bright side, nine years continuous employment is better than many are managing.

Gee, I'd love to see your data!

After eight years at BK, you ought to be a division manager  ;/
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

i suspect his story is bs
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

. . . Nine years in an entry level job?  That's difficult for me to relate to . . .
ALL the people I know who worked in fast food restaurants - heck, ANY minimum-wage job - when they were younger (including yours truly) used the jobs ONLY as stepping stones to something better. Staying at BK for 9 years, at the same low-level position you started at?

Here's my view of the situation:

The worth of a person's labor is worth EXACTLY what the highest bidder in a free competitive market is willing to pay for it.

The appropriate hourly wage is EXACTLY the lowest amount that an available, qualified individual in a free competitive market is willing to accept.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.
