Did you ever want to drive your child's cozy coupe on the street?  Now you can!  You can even have one built for you, if you have $60,000 that you can part with.

I had that very remote controlled KITT!  My favorite toy when I was 6 years old.

The red light up front just lit up, though... all the way across.  It didn't move from side to side.

Well, that isn't remote controlled.... it's just an inert collector's model that happens to have the red cylon light that blinks across the front.

I saw a real Chevrolet Camaro(?) once in Connecticut with one of those cylon eyes moving back and forth as it drove down the road .... was sort of cool on one hand and silly on the other.    [tinfoil]

I thought KITT was a firebird?

ETA:  Nope.  Trans-am.

See now, the thing is I wouldn't want a moterized one.

I just want the plastic, but grownup sized, that is propelled by feet.

And, as for KITT... With all the voice recognition softwear, how hard would it be to trick out a trans am and have it talk?

AZ, KITT was a Trans Am, but the actual real car I saw was a Camaro.  That is basically Chevrolet's version of the Firebird/Trans Am -- or atleast was back in the 80s.   My parents had a Firebird and I once got to rifde in a friend's Camaro.  The enterior was almost IDENTICAL except for color to the Pontiac Firebird.
I thought it weird to see Kitt's red sensor eye on a Camaro....but it happened.....

Once upon a time there was a company selling kits to make KITTs out of  Firebirds.
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

Yep. If I'm going to drive a a Firebird/Transam its going to be a 77 Trans Am like the Bandit drove. KITT is a meh.

I did like the ressurection a few years ago with the Mustang...well until they started having KITT transform into a pickup truck and a minivan.

Must be a record. ONE post for a complete thread drift.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I bought a well used cozy coupe for my kids; we had it for 5 or 6 years and then passed it on to someone else, who passed it on to someone else. The Camry of toys.
I'd love to have that 3 cylinder.

Machines talking to me just gets my back up. I lurv the self-checkout at the grocery store, but when it starts telling me what to do, I want to slap it across the face for its impertinence.

It doesn't have a face. :P

I find that the ones at the less upscale grocery store work signifegently better then ANYWHERE else. I'm not sure why, but I'm guess they work better because nobody wanted to pay for the bells and whistles which are a PITA.

Lowe's has the worst, followed closely by Kroger.

You guys have Kroger out there? They moved outta here when I was a whippersnapper. Makes me all nostalgic...

But this is a thread about Knight Rider.

Helpful hint: The home depot self checks have a hopper for change instead of the more common slot.  The clerks didn't seem to mind when I emptied my change jar into one to buy some wire.

I'd love to have that 3 cylinder.

It's only about 50hp.

My 800cc Tiger (same size engine with 3 cylinders) makes about 90 horsepower.  I'm not impressed with their 50hp 800cc motor.  And being in the UK, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually spoke with Triumph if they were shopping for an inline 3 cylinder application.

(Although I have heard rumors of a UK-specific flash modification that can be done to Triumph ECU's that cuts the HP in half, purely to comply with some sort of government 47hp ceiling).

I want to do one that would fit in around here; a TransCamaroBird on blocks, with the sensor light and a giant CB antenna.
