Meh, I'd say it's regional. In WA they're one of the most common cars, and have no connotations about politics etc. I think it's mainly in places that don't get snow that they're viewed as lesbian Obama-voter mobiles.

Never been there. I'd say liberal areas will naturally have more liberal bumper stickers etc, while mountainous or snowy areas naturally have more Subarus. So liberal mountainous/snowy areas have more Subarus with liberal bumper stickers.
