The President's visit to Snohomish County, Washington

On his way to a multi-day trip to Asia, the President just landed at Paine Field 30 minutes ago for a visit to the Oso landslide site.  My office is about three miles from Paine Field, and I was able to watch Air Force One land.  Just five minutes ago, I saw Marine One and a backup fly past, accompanied by four Ospreys: two painted in the MV-22 executive transportation scheme, and two in olive-drab scheme.  I did not see any fighter cover within visual range.

I'm sure those grieving the deaths of their loved ones will be comforted to know a politician thinks it would be a good photo op to pretend to care about them.

I loath Presidental visits to this area, and because of the historic signifigance and close proximity to DC, we get a lot of them.
I swear he's in his motercade laughing at our stand still traffic.

I loathe VIP movement because they aren't announced, so I don't add more gas for the inevitable hold I get.  Or worse, I show up to work on time only to be delayed one hour or more.

I have to say that I was most excited by actually seeing live an Osprey in flight.  They are not as loud as I thought they would be.

There was a huge speedbump-like heave in the pavement on a busy freeway west of milwaukee. When president O visited a few months back, this speedbump was fixed so his limo wouldn't hit it.

Just throwing out a positive involving a presidential visut.

Remember the criticism Bush got for not landing in Katrina, when he didn't want to disrupt rescue ops by landing AF1 in NO?

I'm sure most policritters would do the same as Obama. Since I despise most all policritters this presents no internal difficulty for me.

Regarding Bush and Katrina.  I remember watching his plane fly over NO.  I told Swmbo to watch what the left says.  I suggested that they'd criticize him for flying over as being racist and unconcerned about the tragedy.  If he had landed and toured, he would have been accused of playing politics and taking a photo op.
