How long do we have before Texas turns blue?
« on: June 11, 2014, 02:20:16 PM »
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2653063/Republicans-claim-Obama-policy-enticed-tens-thousands-homeless-illegal-immigrant-children-cross-border-landing-secret-government-holding-pens.html#ixzz34D2w2fSo

Demography is destiny. You see this in states that are relatively red outside of a couple giant cities that ruin everything for the rest of the state cough cough Illinois cough cough. Enough illegals cross the border and bring their unvaccinated, drug resistant TB carrying, 3rd world corruption with them and Texas will be giving its electoral college votes to the socialists as surely as NY. When that happens we're pretty much done.

Not too long, unless we can get the illegals to go back home and stop more from coming.  That will get us some time, but what with gov't subsidized poverty breeding programs, the future is a third world society with a thick upper crust, a huge lower class, and a much smaller middle class.  Eliminating welfare would also give more time.

My wife at the public hospital sees this mess first hand and wonders where to go once the tipping point is reached.  I have no answer for her.  So we invest heavily in the kids' education right here & now, because when the rotted structure falls, I doubt currency will avoid hyperinflation.  Saved cash will be inflated away, even cash saved up to put the kids in college.

But, yeah, if Texas goes tango uniform, get ready for the (even more) authoritarian regime.

And I have some friends that think that they are going to better themselves by leaving Montana for Texas

Eh...

Seems in the 1860's through 1920's people were constantly worried the waves of Polish, Irish, Italians etc. were going to kill English as America's primary language, and vote to turn us over as a vassal state of the Vatican.

Yes, they did it LEGALLY, through Ellis Island, America's expansion wasn't finished yet, yadda yadda yadda, I agree 100%

That said, I'm taking the issue with a grain of salt.. There is the nominal issue that they bring some social conservatism with them, and a lot of them are here to do the work our "native" urban underclass can't or won't do.

Although the net result of it is I'm agreeing we're probably screwed. I just think it's a little less screwed than some of you.
I promise not to duck.

People in the third world are often fine folks, but they export their culture where they go.

I find most aspects of the culture i've seen to be preferable to certain American demographics. But yeah, i getcha.

Inner city black or trailer trash white culture is essentially third world.

Rural as well.  WV is a study in the failures of the welfare state.

About the worst thing you can do for poor people and cultures is drop gov't money on them, wherever they might be.  Unadulterated spiritual and moral poison.

Except without the morality that often keeps things going in the absence of a government safety net.

I've been to a bunch.

Much of the third world would be fine to live in, assuming a upper middle class (in the US) income and a willingness to ignore local laws you don't like.  Getting the income can be tricky though.

Income + location away from the seething masses.

If you have the income, the location tends to be easy.
