16 miles.

I knew which lump of coastline it was on, but was apparently a little south.

I'm not even going to bother claiming such gadgets wouldn't work on my phone. Even if it worked, I'd probably be pretty far off.
I suck at geography.

I know it's over *waves hands to the tan colored part of the globe under europe* there and, as is most of that area, seriously *expletive deleted*ed up.

21,137-297=20,840. I took the long way around.

Long way around what planet?  The earth is 24860-24910 miles around...so where did 21137 come from?
If it was 297 off, wouldn't that make the long way 24563-24613?

170 miles. I knew it was by that bay, but wasn't sure if it was at the east or west end.

The trick is not knowing where or what stuff is.

The trick is in knowing how to look it up.

Gee, do you think WaPo is trying to refresh concern about the Benghazi affair?

You were 251 miles away. I’m impressed. Pretty close.

Doesn't suck.

I figured, but that isn't the long way ;)

Or a great circle route.

But random fun fact, the LONGEST unrefueled non-stop circumnavigation (hit all longitudes, land where you started) of earth by an airplane is actually like >10% longer than the circumference of earth, and also shorter than the longest unrefueled, non-stop flight.  Funny what people do to set records.
