PETA people really ARE insane.
« on: September 27, 2006, 03:56:52 AM »
Quote
. . . People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals want all Six Flags theme parks, including the one in Massachusetts, to exterminate an upcoming cockroach-eating extravaganza.

Cockroaches have been given a bad (reputation) in our society, said PETA spokeswoman Jackie Vergerio. They are gentle, complex animals.

Six Flags parks around the country starting Saturday will give anyone who eats a live, hissing Madagascar cockroach line-jumping privileges as part of its Halloween FrightFest promotion. . . .
Full story at http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=159146

Aside from the fact that the Six Flags people have been watching too many "reality shows" where the main attraction is people eating bugs, PETA's response makes you wonder what's next - teaching kids not to step on ants? Telling people not to swat mosquitos? Setting out extra wood for termites?

After bugs are protected, will they move on to bacteria?

It should be obvious to everyone by now, the ARFs (Animal Rights Fanatics) have gone off the deep end.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Yeah, saw that article.  (Sigh.)

"...the ARFs (Animal Rights Fanatics) have gone off the deep end."

Hank, that's about as charitable an assessment as ever I've read.

Is there a hotline I can call to have a PETA volunteer come gently remove from my property any roaches I might encounter?  Will they also kindly escort all fireants, wasps, yellowjackets, bees, and mosquitos to a safer, more accepting location?

PETA acts weird because weird sells newspapers and the free publicity brings donations

This is the will of Ingrid Newkirk, head of PETA.

http://www.peta.org/feat/newkirk/will.html

Some highlights:
That the meat of my body, or a portion thereof, be used for a human barbecue...
That my skin, or a portion thereof, be removed and made into leather products, such as purses...
That my feet be removed and umbrella stands or other ornamentation be made from them...
That one of my eyes be removed, mounted, and delivered to the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency...

...and so forth. This is from the person who leads them. How any rational person can take them seriously is beyond me.
Does any image illustrate so neatly the wrongheadedness of the Obama administration than Americans scrambling in terror from Air Force One?
Just great…Chicago politics has spread to all 57 states.
They told me if I voted for John McCain, my country would look like it is run by people with a disturbing affinity towards fascism. And they were right!

Maybe they're not all vegetarians, but I think most would look askance at any jokes about 'PETA' standing for 'People Eating Tasty Animals'.

Anyway, today they've come out with something I agree with. Some farmer in Denmark runs a barnyard brothel and PETA says that's sick.

+1 - I saw that story too. "Grotesque" doesn't even begin to describe it . . .

As for PETA being correct on this issue, think of the "Broken Clock" analogy - twice a day, even a broken clock is right. (Applies to the ACLU as well.)

Yet another reason why we have to get a truly pluripartisan system. Otherwise, fringers like PETA and ACLU get disproportionate amount of attention due to their bin-up with far more moderate folks inside the same half of the spectrum. If we had say five parties, all these jokers would be recognized for the freak shows they are and disappear from the public eye.

Yeah, just like the Green Parties never got anywhere in Germany and other parliamentary governments.  I think you've got it backward, there.  Multiple party systems make it far easier for nuts to gain power, although of course they get a good dose of reality once they get some.

Beat me to the punch.  Multi party systems allow narrow self-interest groups to exert a disporportionate amount of power on the system.  My point of reference is Israel, where the religious parties have made a hash of the political system and a mockery of religion.

Hmmmm.... Some of those don't sound too radical to my ears.  Were I to amass a fortune to distribute after I leave this mortal coil, I'd be inclined to suggest the first point to those after my money.  And should I live long enough that technology will allow "ME" to be transfered or copied to another substrate, I want the skull I currently inhabit as a desk or mantle ornament.  I spend too much of my own hard earned money on the teeth to just bury them in the ground or burn them to ash when my current vessel stops working.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

True only if there is a meaningful number of people supporting them. How many will quit the Democratic party to join the Whacko Alliance? Do we have as many greens as the Germans do, percentagewise?
