Is this one of those seasonally adjusted things where next time there's an unrelated story dominating the headlines they'll announce it was actually %0.04, and that's only because they count crossing the border illegally as an economic activity?

Four percent?  Sure it was.  I haven't seen any pigs flying by.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Last quarter they trumpeted ~1.3% growth...and the revised figures showed -2.6%.

I suspect they're heavily weighting sales of the how-to videos for applying for Obamacare.

4% ?

As someone who works in retail I say bullscat.

The panic about November has set in and it is time to use the fourth estate in their fifth column role to mold "reality".
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

From my recollection, exports went from -9% last quarter to +9% this quarter. Everything else was basically flat.

So, yes pretty much everything still sucks unless you are in the export business.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

So, the rest of the world can, again, buy the stuff we produce but "We' can't afford it?
Honest question. Not sarc.

#1 US export is food.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

For us, it's hard to judge; right now is when all the incentive programs are out of money and won't have any more until next fiscal year.  When you're talking about an $8-10,000 difference in out-of-pocket expenses, that has a lot of people waiting a few months rather than buying now.

OTOH, that gives us some time to catch up, tweak systems that are within spec but not as good as we think they should be, prep estimates for the people who want to be first in line for next year's incentive money, etc.
