Rep Trey Radel (R-FL) caught with coke

In September, Rep. Trey Radel voted for Republican legislation that would allow states to make food stamp recipients pee in cups to prove they're not on drugs. In October, police busted the Florida Republican on a charge of cocaine possession.

While it'd never happen, I'd be curious what a random mandatory urinalysis for Congress would show. It'd be pretty hilarious, I'm sure.

Plus a few hundred cases of low T.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

So pull him off food stamps and make him pay back any welfare benefits he's received in the last five years.

Whatever happened to testing the per-capita drug consumption of entire metropolitan areas, by screening the sewage for drugs or drug metabolites? I recall it making a splash in several science publications a few years ago.

You could just test D.C. during and after Congressional breaks and see if there's a spike.
I promise not to duck.

I don't see anything derogatory about "DiFi". If he'd said Diane Fineswine I could see it. 'A-rod" isn't derogatory. Nor is G-dub. No need to look for something which isn't there.

While we may vehemently disagree with them on every policy position, they are still our duely elected congressional representatives.  Mr X, Sen X or simply X, is accepted. Anything else is a no=no.

But if the nickname is one embraced by the politico or used affectionately by their supporters it's still kosher, right? IE the whole discussion we had over using Dubya for the second Bush.

If it's being used in a normal context then sure.  Link one article of a left wing source using the nickname in an affectionate manner and it can slide.

So you object to "DiFi" but not my comment on her testosterone level.  Okay.

I was in a hurry and on my phone.  Pardon me for not fully cracking down on every questionable comment made in this thread or on APS.   ;/

Am I the only one that simply doesn't believe it?

I have no doubt police "busted him with coke" but I have no reason to believe that he actually had it.

A lot of politicians use drugs, so I have no reason to doubt it. And snowing some po' boy from the ghetto/trailer park is one thing, but I doubt they'd pull that on someone who is powerful and connected. If it was a political hit they'd have used child porn, much better character assassination.

But also much more worth fighting with everything you can muster.  Cocaine?  "One of my interns wanted it real bad.  I took the plea bargain to get them off my back."

A lot more people use drugs (even "hard" drugs like meth and cocaine) than one may be led to believe.

I am well aware. I believe the rate of cocaine use is particularly high amongst stock brokers and day traders.

Great for staying awake when used correctly.  Great for staying awake for days, taking apart the toaster and the family car, shopping in autozone and spending the rent at 2am when used incorrectly.
