$2.769 for unleaded regular (10% ethanol) at the discount club this evening.

The other day (Monday?) 87 octane e10 was $2.34.  This morning it was $2.77.  This evening it was $2.69.

I just got back from getting some farm fuel.

Offroad diesel=$3.25
Kerosene=$5.62

It looks like the last time I posted a kerosene price here was DEC 2022, and it was the exact same price.

Yup. Straight from the gas pump. We have a station here that sells everything from kerosene to racing fuel.

We're getting to the point where we'll see an unexplainable 20 to 30 cent per gallon jump any day now.

Bend over Californians, a new higher price gasoline blend is on it way

According to USC professor Michael A. Mische, of Marshall School of Business, his research states as California is expected to see a spike in gas prices for 2025, when the state begins requiring gas stations to carry a more expensive blend fuel that is approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
 

While Mische links back to CARB’s claims, saying the new special blend would increase gas price by $0.47 a gallon, a different study referenced by the USC professor claims retail gas prices may go up by $0.65 a gallon in 2025 and up $0.85 a gallon in 2030.

The oil companies had better keep that a California blend and not try and save production costs by sending it to surrounding states as well. I'm tired of CA and CARB making the rest of us pay for their dumbass ideas. I'm looking at you, diesel regs and gas cans.

The propane guy just came by. $1.82/gal. That's pretty cheap. I'd have to check back in this thread, but I think I was paying $3ish last Winter/Spring.

Wouldn't home heating oil be less expensive?  I know that kerosene from a pump is almost $5/gal over here at the one station that has it but I only need it for my assorted lamps.

As in carbon monoxide production from hell because diesel degrades the wick really quickly?

I know that the one I posted is only supposed to burn the good kerosene. I have a kerosene torpedo heater in the shop, and that is rated as kerosene or diesel. I burned diesel in it once when I was out of kerosene and didn't want to drive an hour in the snow for it, and I won't do it again unless it's an emergency. I do not care for the smell, and it lingers well after the heater is off.

That's a bit different because those torpedo heaters are venturi injected -- there's no wick from which the fuel has to evaporate. That's the rub with diesel and a wick -- it's a lot more resistant to evaporation, and that causes issues with the wick.

$2.599 - $2.799 for regular at the local Texaco, Exxon, and Shell stations. (The Texaco in the neighborhood is always 10-20 cents more expensive than the other nearby stations.)

On Thanksgiving Day, I met relatives at the Golden Corral in Effingham, IL for "lunch".  Gas prices there were mostly $2.829 while back near East St. Louis they are still running around $3.179 - $3.399.  I think that part of the reason for the disparity is that we are "downwind" of St. Louis but close enough to be included in their "ozone exclusion zone" for air pollution.  We have to use those "oxygenated blends" ($$$$ !!) during the summers.
