My current state:

Oklahoma: Lowest produce consumption

While Oklahoma’s fast food titan, Sonic, offers 398,929 different drink combinations and sells roughly 3 billion Tater Tots a year, it doesn’t appear as if too many fruits and vegetables are making their way into those meals.

My home state:

Kansas: Ugliest scenery

Have you ever wondered why The Wizard of Oz starts in black and white? Well, it turns out that Kansas actually looks like that. Or, at least, that’s what most of America thinks Kansas looks like.

Think parts of Oklahoma and Texas can give Kansas a run for this one.  I know that Kansas does have some ugly scenery but the Flint Hills are nice as is the wheat fields.

Not surprising, not in the least.
A very high percentage of our AA population are transplants from the Chicago projects that moved to WI Milwaukee over the last 40 years.
The socialists in WI offered much better welfare benefits than IL did, and if I'm not mistaken, IL/City of Chicago often paid for one way bus/train tickets to Milwaukee. The worst of the worst of the worst got concentrated in the core of Milwaukee.

Illinois: Most rail accidents

That’s right, people in Illinois are harmed by things other than guns and deep-dish pizza. Having all those rail yards and being the heart of America ends up bringing a lot of derailments to your backyard, too. Illinois just barely edged out Texas in total train accidents.

Yeah with 21 railyards and every major (and a lot of minor) carriers in North America having yards here, it's not surprising.  Therefor trans-shipping Bakken and Canadian oil on trains through Chicago as opposed to shipping it safely via pipeline, is beyond stupid.  

There are 133 grade level crossing in the Chicagoland area just on the one line used by CN (Canadian National) to ship oil down to Louisiana.

Yet, Keystone is to dangerous and bad for the environment.

 


Meanwhile, in my soon to be new home state:

South Carolina: Most violent crime

Of all 50 states, South Carolina has the highest rate of violent crime at 766 per 100,000 residents. So much for that whole concept of Southern hospitality.

I'd have to say AL is the worst for eating healthy. I've never seen so many fat people. Thin people are actually pretty rare in this town, or at least the places I go to. Everything is deep fried, and portions of the fried stuff are large.

I wonder what they base their stats on. If they use produce purchased from traditional grocery stores as a base then they aren't taking into account produce grown in the home garden. From April to first frost we buy damn little produce but eat a  heck of a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, after that we chow down on quite a bit of frozen and home canned stuff.

Less than 80% of Texans have a high school diploma. It’s actually the only state that dips below 80%, too. Everything is bigger in Texas — including dropout rates, apparently.
