I have undergone a religious change.
« on: December 22, 2014, 02:33:25 PM »
For years, as most of you know, I have lived my life as an agnostic/atheist.

However, recently, due to a variety of reasons, especially, the religious influence of a close friend, I have altered my religious views.

Starting Sunday, I have self-identified as a Laveyan Satanist.

Tonight I have carried out my first Black Mass. Through the use of candles, an image of Baphomet, and a sharp knife, I have called upon Satan to grant me wisdom to comprehend the riddles I am facing in my life.

Whether through the inherent psychodrama of the thing, or through the flow of dark energies through my mind, I feel better now - calmer, happier, more enlightened. I do not pretend to claim I have immediately become wise, but certainly I have undergone a religious experience.

Time will tell if it has truly changed my life for the better.

Well, good luck. Does it involve potluck dinners, bingo, etc?

Huh...  (As in Mal opening the stasis crate and seeing River for the first time.)

I guess if that part of the world goes unexpectedly off-grid, we'll know something went tragically wrong...

Never summon anything bigger than your head.

Out of curiosity, will you now be serving a mission in some odd place?

No, Laveyan Satanism rejects the literal existence of God or Satan. Satan is a methaphorical construct in Laveyan Satanism, not a literal guy with horns. XD

So you are still more or less an agnostic if not antheist?  Oh well, I guess I will leave the fine distinctions to you.

Merry Christmas!

It takes tungsten carbide gonads to investigate these things dispassionately, divorced from one's upbringing and geography, free from fear of some pre-assumed retribution from On High.

I congratulate anyone who has that kind of nerve, whether they are being satirical or not.

Ayup. Satanism as it is usually practiced these days is essentially just aggressive atheism.

I was gonna ask him if he got a new foreskin but that might be to crass so I won't do it.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

It is certainly an evolutionary step up from the nihilistic anti philosophy of atheistic philosophical materialism.

Having an open mind not chained up by dogma (even atheist dogma) is healthy.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
