Wives who throw away husbands' comfortable clothing
« on: October 27, 2006, 11:49:30 AM »
Because I work mostly at home sitting at this computer, I spend a lot of my time wearing a bathrobe.

There was a black bathrobe I'd had for years. It was worn, looked a little funky, but it was warm and comfortable.

It's cold today, so I went to get it. But it was gone. In its place was a new, blue bathrobe.

It itches. The sleeves are too short, so my arms are cold. And I hate the color.

I went out to look through the garbage, but today was pickup day for trash.

Damn, I'll miss that old robe.

And it's a robe.  It's not like you were going to accidentally wear it out to dinner and the theater.   sad

Same thing happened to me right when my wife moved it, my robe I have had since I lived in a dorm 12 years ago disapeared and a nice new terry towel one in its place showed up. I didn't mind because this robe was of way better quality than the one I priviously owned.

Mine is terry and it reaches the floor and has a hood and the arms are at least a foot too long.  I like to put it on and play Star Wars music.

I burn them (cause he'll rescue stuff otherwise rolleyes) when:

There is more hole than shirt.
The shirt is so threadbare that the white T-shirt looks pink.
It has more than one layer of knee patches attached with carpenter's glue.
The duct tape holding the ripped leg shut has lost it tackiness.
There is more than two colors of paint on any item that gets worn to a restaurant.

Grampster, CatsDieNow: Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Just on a hunch, I looked in the box in the basement where my wife keeps rags, and there it was!

I'm comfy and warm right now. Smiley

As someone who's actualy seen you in the robe, I'm glad it's not gone!

I was getting all ready to find a sympathy card.

It gave you an interesting air one half "M*A*S*H", and one half Hugh Hefner... grin

Very funny, AJ.

Every spring and fall my wife and I play dueling thermostats. She's downstairs most of the time, whereas I'm upstairs. And the upstairs gets hotter or colder than downstairs.

Lately, I've been turning the thermostat up to 70 after she leaves for work in the morning. After I go to bed at night, she turns it down to 60.

In the springtime, when we hit 80 degrees, I turn on the AC. She turns it off, saying, "it's only May!"

I don't care what month it is. If I'm hot or cold, I want my thermostat set right.

So there.

My wife slowly replaced all of my comfy white underwear with scratchy, ill fitting boxer shorts and she wonders why I have a resentment for her.  smiley

A few years back, I just happened to notice a flash of familiar looking white cloth poking out of a donation box on our front porch.  It was my pristine Bruce Springsteen 'Born in the USA' silk tour jacket.  Wife said she'd never seen me wear it, so she thought she'd give it to someone who would.  Hmmmm....I'll be right back, I need to look for something.

My wife and I  have an understanding.  We figure we are both adults, and can take care of our own clothing decisions.  I wanted a wife, not a mommy.

My wife doesn't bother my clothes. But I swear she'd put satay sauce on the Thanksgiving turkey.

Ever give any thought to replacing her underwear with something of your choosing?

My cat thinks my bath robe is hers. I'm in the market for a new one, and will give her the old one in due timeassuming I can find a truly warm ankle-length robe, that is. All the robes I see in catalogues are so-called "calf-length," which actually means knee-length.

Wolfie,

May I tempt you with my robe?  Look back a few posts and envy me. grin

Dick,
Congrats.  I was going to tell you to look in the rag bin, but I had to go to dinner and sip on some fine Irish whiskey.

That. If someone tossed out something of mine without consulting me, I'd be pretty ticked.

Ticked?

Barbara, I was expecting you to graphically describe how you would dismember such a person with a dull butter knife.

Folks, Barbara is getting soft. It's time to get her back to her old self again. Wink

There's absolutely no evidence that I've ever done that to anyone.
